Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Place sliced red onion in a clean jar.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine apple cider vinegar, water, sugar, salt, peppercorns, and bay leaf.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until sugar and salt dissolve. Do not boil.
  4. Pour the hot liquid over the onions in the jar.
  5. Ensure onions are submerged. Let cool to room temperature.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
