Description
A flavorful turkey burger recipe with a spicy kick from jalapenos.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickled jalapenos
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 whole wheat burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine ground turkey, red onion, cilantro, jalapenos, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form into patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
- Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached.
- Lightly toast the burger buns if desired.
- Serve the burgers on the buns with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For a spicier burger, add more jalapenos or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- If you don’t have pickled jalapenos, you can use fresh jalapenos, but remove the seeds and membranes for less heat.
- Ensure the ground turkey is fully cooked before serving.
