- 1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped topping
- 3 ounces strawberry jello
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 cup sliced strawberries (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 1/4 cup sugar. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
- In a bowl, dissolve strawberry jello in boiling water. Stir in cold water. Add sliced strawberries if using. Chill until slightly thickened, about 30-45 minutes.
- Pour the thickened jello mixture over the cream cheese layer.
- Chill for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
Notes
- For a firmer crust, you can bake it a few minutes longer.
- Ensure the cream cheese mixture is smooth before adding the jello.
- Chilling time is crucial for the salad to set properly.
