Description
A flavorful classic spaghetti bolognese recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain the spaghetti.
- Serve the bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of red wine to the sauce after browning the beef and cook until it evaporates.
- You can also add other vegetables like chopped carrots or celery along with the onion.
