A simple and delicious pasta dish featuring Italian sausage and your favorite pasta.

- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 pound pasta of your choice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Remove sausage with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Add onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss to combine with the sauce.
- Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, use hot Italian sausage.
- You can add your favorite vegetables, such as bell peppers or mushrooms, along with the onion.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
