Description
A simple recipe for sweet and spicy hot honey, perfect for drizzling on various dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup honey
- 1–2 tablespoons red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Combine honey, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and salt in a small saucepan.
- Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey is warm and infused with the pepper flakes. Do not boil.
- Remove from heat and let it steep for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Strain the honey through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the pepper flakes, or leave them in for a more rustic look and extra spice.
- Pour the hot honey into a clean jar or bottle for storage.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
- The spice level can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the red pepper flakes.
- For a smoother texture, you can gently warm the honey again before straining.
