Description

A collection of easy homemade dog treat recipes offering a variety of flavors and textures to keep your canine companion happy and healthy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg
  • Optional: small pieces of dog-safe fruits or vegetables

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and rolled oats.
  3. Add the peanut butter, applesauce, honey, and egg to the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix until a firm dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour.
  5. If using, gently mix in small pieces of dog-safe fruits or vegetables.
  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
  8. Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and firm.
  10. Let the treats cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

  • Always use xylitol-free peanut butter as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • Ensure any added fruits or vegetables are safe for canine consumption.
  • Store treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • For longer storage, freeze the treats.
