- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the sliced apples.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
