- 1 cup Coca-Cola

- 2 large eggs

- For the Frosting:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup Coca-Cola
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the cocoa powder and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the Coca-Cola and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
- Pour the hot liquid over the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Add this to the cake batter and mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan.
- While the cake cools, prepare the frosting. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the cocoa powder and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the Coca-Cola and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually beat in the powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in the chopped pecans.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
